You can submit an application for the 2025-2026 school year until March 1, 2025.
Who is eligible for a scholarship?
Mississippi residents younger than 23 years of age at the time of the initial disbursement who have had a parent severely or fatally injured in an accident that is compensable under the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Act may apply for the scholarship. The scholarship is good for one year, but recipients may apply each year of school as long as they make satisfactory academic progress.
Must pursue a college or university degree (bachelor’s or associate’s) or vocational education and training (certificate or license) on a full-time or part-time basis from an accredited university, community, technical/vocational college or proprietary school. Upon completion of the primary college or university degree, the pursuit of a master’s or doctoral degree is eligible for the scholarship award.
Applicant must be consider a fulltime student at their post high school institution to qualify for a full monetary award.
Applicant must timely submit a complete Kids’ Chance Scholarship Application with supporting documents in accordance with all Kids’ Chance of Mississippi guidelines.
The Kids’ Chance of Mississippi Board of Directors has discretion to consider extenuating circumstances in determining eligibility.
When can I apply for a scholarship?
The time period for submitting completed applications and all supporting documents with respect to scholarships for each year runs until March 1 of each year. Applications and supporting information will not be accepted after the deadline.
How are scholarships awarded?
The Scholarship Committee of Kids’ Chance of Mississippi, Inc. reviews all applications and recommends recipients to the Board of Directors. The committee is made up of representatives from the legal community, the medical profession, insurance companies, and insured employers.
Scholarships will be awarded in April of each year and announced soon thereafter. Scholarships range between $5000-$10,000 per year and can be increased or decreased subject to the availability of funds.
